Chasing my tail

I'm really want to go to bed right now but i'm waiting to recover from a hypo so I can ironically take my night insulin . The hypo was a silly. I had an easy to calculate dinner but somehow missed the mark completely. In annoyance I had a small snack and got aggresive on compensation. The result was a nasty hypo of course which I have now panicked and over eaten to recover. A bad end to a bad week.

My BS readings are climbing yet every time I try to be even slightly aggressive I get "whacked" with a hypo which I have to deal with. Starting to lose a bit of confidence and getting frustrated and annoyed.

Thanks for listening. Took me 20 mins to type this but feeling calmer now :)

Just a piece of advice... I have been told not to do ANY correct doses until 18-24hrs following a hypo, otherwise like you said you are constantly chasing your tail. I know it's frustrating but just allow the blood sugar to spike, as it might do after a hypo otherwise you will be stacking insulin which will cause another (delayed) hypo. Also to minimise the spikes following a hypo make sure you are treating them properly. 3-4glucose tabs or 50ml lucozade is what I take and then retest exactly 10mins later. If above 4.0 I'll have a slice of bread or a banana or a cereal bar. If still below 4.0 I have another 50ml lucozade and repeat. Hope this helps and isn't too patronising!! Sorry if you already knew all this :)

I think i'm prepared for a life long journey learning how to deal with all of this stuff, so all advice well taken.

Your advice does support what a diabetic nurse told me (but i didn't quite believe  ) looking back at my growing journal there is indeed a pattern post hypo. I do like your controlled approach to the hypo rather than just shovelling in loads of carbs even though the hypo induced carb fest is the only thing about diabetes which is sort of nice

The learning continues ...

I hope you feel better soon, i'm still new to this hypo game its a right pain! I've also over done it in panic when i drop too low, then end up correcting etc.
