My first lot of chicks are a month old now and looking like proper chickens/fowl. They have most of their feathers and practice flying around [which always makes me jump]
Hope to put them out next week [subject to weather]in a separate run within the main run so they can get used to the full grown hens without getting bullied.
I also have 3 more born yesterday who are well and fluffy
I hope to take them to the local preschool tomorrow as I took the eggs on monday and the children were really facinated hearing the gentle pecking noises when they held them close to their ears
The children [3 -4 year olds] were so gentle and patient it was a delight to share with them
That makes 7 chicks in all which will do for now. When we know how many are hens and how many dinner I will put some more eggs under if needed.....and I want to anyway!! Cannot deal with too many hens though!!"
