As everyone knows when you have diabetes you have to look after your feet. I have never had chilblains in my life, but now have them on my left big toe. Anyone suggest something I can put on them without it affecting anything else.
Doctor suggests thick socks, but my feet1 get too hot.

Keep the affected areas warm, but not too hot You can try Friar’s Balsam, or another antiseptic lotion to help prevent the chance of infection. Eucerin Sensitive Skin pH5 skin protection Lotion applied at night to make your skin soft any infection should be treated by a doctor

My understanding is chilblains are caused by a sudden change in temperature.
This change causes the blood vessels to expand quickly and, in some cases, burst. It is this which causes the soreness.
So, if you keep your feet warm all the time it should stop the chilblains.
Try to work out when they get particularly cold (maybe when you are sitting around or maybe when you are outside) and wear thick socks then.

I wear two pairs of socks when I am sitting still in my office. This keeps them at bay most of the time.
If they do start going red, I just use a mild antiseptic like germolene to stop them itching.

I can honestly say I have not heard of anyone having chilblains for years . I can remember when I was young they were pretty common before the days of central heating The house would be cold except for a coal fire in the living room. They were mostly caused then because people would come home with cold feet and warm them up in front of the fire some often scorching the fronts of their legs doing it

Erythema ab Igne. I have it all over my back caused by the heat packs I use for pain.

Keep your feet warm and dry, do not massage and do not bathe them for long periods. Creams and lotions are not recommended for chillblains on the feet but you must check regularly to make sure that the skin isn't broken.
