was just looking at a Chinese menu and was wondering would it be okay to order prawn toast, salt & chilli chickin wings and steak in black bean sauce? i am presuming the toast and wings are fried.

I don't think Chinese menu would ever be a good idea. Even if you skip carbs (a bit difficult to skip noodles, rice or rolls) there is still lots of sugar in sauces they use

Problem is with sugar in sauces - however I was able to trick myself with some beansprouts, and removing the solid bits of meat and pepper from the sauce.
Best wishes
Adam

Sweet and sour chicken which is my fave sending my BG as high as 16

Sadly, I am discounting sweet and sour. A mountain of sugar.:***:

I share with my husband dim sum, dry ribs and 1/4 crispy duck as a starter and normally have egg fu young, plain mixed veg and a few salt and chilly chicken bits. I have no probs with this. Have also had chicken satay starter and I take off most of the satay sauce - also ok. We are lucky to have a very good carry out chinease locally

I quite like beansprouts instead of rice. Feels noodly.

I useually have crispy duck, beef chowmein, chicken fried rice a portion of chips and a sweet n sour sauce.

Oh wait, that was my old life!

Egg fu young (I think). Basically omelette, boring but bg friendly

A chinese meal absolutely kills my blood sugar, even without rice or noodles.
But if No is not an option, the suggestion of beansprouts, dry ribs and duck without the pancakes (or the sauce) sounds like a good plan.

I usually order chicken almond ding and skip the rice. Chicken, veggies, and almonds in a non-sweet white sauce. I do sneak in a egg drop soup or an cabbage roll too.
