Hi. Occasionally in the afternoons I do crave something chocolately, hate plain chocolate far prefer milk chocolate. Have been having either a childs snack size milky bar or a drifter caramel bar both are low in calories n were chosen for this reason, a choccy nibble is the only vice I do have, as bread cakes sweets n puddings can actually do without, but my fix has always been the choccy nibble!!!! what can I do to still have a choccy fix n nibble and reduce the damage? diet choccy mousse? instead? What do other people use or do especially when craving a bit of what you fancy? My diet is good low carb n more protein with the exception of need a bit of choccy? Anna.

Have you got the willpower to have just one square of choccy? One square will probably give you as much pleasure as a whole bar. I have found I can have 4 squares and put the rest away for another time (maybe you might find that too difficult?). Test and see what you can have. I don't like dark chocolate either.

Low Carb Chocolate Truffles (from Food.com):

Ingredients:

2 ounces unsweetened chocolate
4 tablespoons Splenda sugar substitute
4 tablespoons butter, at room temperature
4 tablespoons whipping cream, at room temperature
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 ounce crushed macadamia nuts (optional)

Directions:
Prep Time: 5 mins

Total Time: 25 mins
1 The success of this recipe depends upon the melted chocolate and butter being at the same temperature.
2 If not, the chocolate and butter will separate.
3 Melt the chocolate either in the microwave or in a bowl over a pot of simmering water.
4 Stir in the Splenda and cool to room temperature.
5 Combine the chocolate and butter until smooth.
6 Stir in cream and vanilla, then the nuts if using.
7 Spread evenly into small, parchment lined loaf pan-I use a 4x7 pan.
8 Chill until firm. Cut into pieces and store in the freezer.

Substitute some of the butter for coconut oil, and you'll be able to shape the mix into bars that will hold their shape.

Fudge is my downfall

I know we should not But boots do a range of diabetic sweets ,, Give you the runs if you
have too much

i have the real thing now Devon cream Fudge
But only one piece sq as a treat ,found if you have the real thing ,You know its bad so your more likely to only have small piece and tastes far nicer

Anna,

Like daisy says just eat a smaller amount and it will last a few days, 80-90% dark chocolate is very low carb and to my mind tastes as good as milk chocolate.

That's a tough one, Nige...

1 small sq of 90% chocolate (quite bitter - but I do like it...)

OR

4 or 5 home made chocolate truffles.

I know what I'd go for!

M&S do a pack of 10 (very) small bars of plain chocolate - I think they're about 15g weight each and have (if I recall) 5.2g carb. They're individually wrapped so I find I can have one bar, which is enough to give me a chocolatey hit but not too much. I think they're probably 72% cocoa.

Hi. thanks for your replies n suggestions, very helpful indeedy. The plain chocolate, is it better in reducing BS levels than the milk chocolate? Also the m&s choc bars how many squares do you get in the small bars? As I really do need to deal with my choccy fix n control things better. adored the turkish delight m&s small milk choc bars, darent go near them now!!! Anna.x

The M&S bars are individual wrapped blocks, each one is about the size of say 1.5-2 Lindt squares. I like very dark choc but at 72%, I think these are sweet enough for people who aren't as keen on 85%.

Hi , am going up to my nearest m&s tomorrow, what colour packaging n price are the choccy bars there? just so I can actually find them easily n not hunt for them as at my m&s they keep moving stuff around! Anna.

hi Anna,

Not sure on the price I'm afraid! The pack that they come in is clear, but the individual blocks are a sort of dark brown mainly. M&S do keep shifting things around, don't they?

Hi. thanks russ. Am on a mission to get the small bars in then can both limit n control my choccy craving plus blood sugars... Everytime I go in m&s end up 'dizzy' going round in circles to find things! Although my husband always manages to find mens suits n shits no problem!!! Anna.x

Hiya. ha ha ha ha ha been giggling at it now, I been typing fast n whoops! never mindy if it makes someone smile eh? Anna.x
