Hi all

I have been away in Devon for a week so hence my absence. Had a lovely time and saw a 2-1 away win for Maidstone United at Weston Super Mare.

While away I bought a bar of Tesco finest cooks chocolate (look in the baking section). According to the nutritional info it was 17g carbs per 100g. It was also pretty palatable. I figured that half a bar (1 bar is 50g) could be fitted into a low carb diet to end those chocolate cravings.

I'm happy to take the criticism if this is something I have got wrong. The fact that my wife could eat a square of it without sitting it out was a good guide to how palatable it was.

Haven't tried that but will look out for it. Generally, you need 85%< cocoa. Darker chocolate has lower carbs and higher fat. Lindt 85% 90% 99%, or Green and Blacks etc.

You do what's right for you. Nobody is going to critiscise you for eating a bit of chocolate - you need something to keep you sane when you've cut a lot of 'stuff' out of your diet.

Quite a few forum members like Lidl own brand. If you have a store nearby, I think it is quite cheap and quite low carb, haven't tried it myself yet.

Aldi Moser Roth 75% is my favourite. It comes divided in perfect size individually wrapped portions.

My second favourite is the Lindt 90% but I have to be careful with portion control.

I keep chocolate in the freezer and break it up as I'm weighing it out - makes it slower to eat from frozen.

Marks & Sparks Intense Dark Chocolate 85%........I refuse to believe that there is a nicer chocolate anywhere on earth
Unfortunately it was sold out when I went to buy some, so I bought a bar of their Dark Swiss Chocolate 72% cocoa instead, but I haven't tried it yet. It's in the pile of chocolate bars recommended by forum members which I am slowly working my way through.:p

Product testing :)

Thanks for the replies. Will have to check some of them out.

prem51 - I'm not sure you are getting the point of all this if you are buying lower carb bars in bulk and working your way through the pile :D:D:D
