Hello there, I'm just after some advice, I am going on a Choice course next week, that stands for Carbohydrate and insulin calculation education. I am hoping to get a pump, so I need to do this. Just wondered whether anybody else had attended a similar programme? I am a bit apprehensive, as it is all day, and there is a lot to take on board. Its actually one day a week over 4 weeks, so I should be able to carbohydrate count by then? If anyone has attended one, did they find it useful, and has it helped you have better control? Any replies would be appreciated?

Hi
I haven't been on that course or any courses but I am on a pump and am hoping to do a DAFNE course.
Anyway, just wanted to say good luck.

Well if its as good as the DAFNE course you will not be disappointed, good luck with the course and hope your expectations with the pump are fulfilled! :)

Hi,

i attended the DAFNE course which stands for Dose adjustment for normal eating,

so very similar apart from mine was five consectutive days.

When i went some people got the grasp quicker than others, but i'm sure you'll find that your 'trainer' will be very willing to be patient until everyone understands and is comfortable with whats being taught :)

It definately helped me get better control, i also did it to qualify to get a pump, which i;ve now been told i can have over the next two months :)

my hba1c was 12.1% when i started and 5 weeks later it was 8.7% so a very big drop and i think is proof enough it works!!

hope you enjoy it and it all goes well!!
