I'm so confused

I've had my blood test results back today and am more than a little confused about my cholesterol levels...I've read a lot on HDL/LDL and Triglyceride etc on the forum but can't find these results on my print out...instead I have the following.

Serum Cholesterol - 6.5 mmol/L
Serum HDL cholesterol level - 1.7 mmol/L
Se non HDL cholesterol level - 4.8 mmol/L

While it also states next to these results 'Normal - No action' I was of the understanding that total cholesterol should be under 5...so surely 6.5 is really bad? Does this mean I need to reconsider my LCHF diet? I have an appointment tomorrow to discuss some of my other blood results...hoping someone can help me line up a few more questions to ask in regards to this result.

Thanks in advance

Hi @Natalie1974 ,

This page gives a good explanation of cholestrol numbers.

Hope you find it useful.

Hi. The total cholesterol figure by itself is of little use. You need to look at the LDL, HDL and Trig ratios to see if they are OK. Search for 'cholesterol' in the Home page and it will explain ratios.
