Cholesterol results

Hello, could someone please help me interpret my recent cholesterol tests. Are they good or bad? I don't have diabetes.

Cholesterol - 4.7
HDL - 1.9
Non-HDL - 2.8
Cholesterol:HDL Ratio - 2.5
Triglyceride - 0.5

Above the results it says 'non-fasting lipids'. However I didn't have anything to eat before the tests. Is this likely to have skewed the results/masked a potential problem?

I can't find any decent links on the internet about cholesterol levels or reference ranges for fasting tests.

Thanks

They look excellent to me. It is only the triglycerides that are affected if you don't fast.

They should be

Cholesterol - 4.7 UNDER 5
HDL - 1.9 OVER 1.2
Non-HDL - 2.8 UNDER 4
Cholesterol:HDL Ratio - 2.5 UNDER 5
Triglyceride - 0.5 UNDER 1.9 (fasting) UNDER 2.3 (non_fasting)

As I understand it the HDL is the good stuff and not of concern (the rubbish sweeper!).
The ldl (or non HDL) is based on a calculation only and if your trigs are low (and they are) it is unlikely to be very low density lipoprotein (VLDL) which is believed to be the stuff that injures arterial walls and causes inflamation (and heart disease).

@Adam01 - You might find this video to be useful. Professor Sikaris does a whole bunch of YouTube stuff; speaking at conferences or symposia, but he explains things in a very human way.

I haven't watched all of this yet, but it looks like it'll be worthwhile.
