Cholesterol

not really IMHO! One may have a high total chol that is made up of a v high HDL

Correct but my point was that if you have a normal/low total cholesterol then you are unlikely to have anything very high, whereas a high total cholesterol would require further investigation.

So in that respect it is a useful marker and cheaper than going straight for a full lipid panel test.

I don't have the latest costings but per the 2008 cost of treatment figures of £4.20 for full lipids the marginal cost cannot be that high. Of course I may just put a higher value on my health data than you! i USE it as feedback to improve my results!

Hi
Hi Sid!
Saw the doc this morning and he said that they had done the lipids panel test. We are disregarding these results and he has agreed to allow me to come off statins. My triglycerides have halved, my HDL has increased but so has my LDL.

Good news about your trigs then and Rome wasnt built in a day so one step at a time, did your doctor make any useful (or otherwise) suggestions?

What a strange thing to say, how would you know what value I or anyone else puts on their health. I see no point in continuing this...

He advocates less sausages for brekkie. Really pleased with my bs and weight reduction. Don't eat cereal but can't face fish every day. The sausages fill me up and I only need a light snack at lunch which helps as I rarely get more than 10-15 mins if I'm lucky! I realise that processed meat is less than ideal but struggling to find an alternative!
