Type of diabetes
Don't have diabetes
Hi everyone, 4 weeks ago my blood tests came back and I was told my reading was 45 , 3 short of being classed as type 2. I was advised to cut out the chocs, fizzy drink etc. I have since lost about 7-8 llbs, my question is- apon my next blood check in 3 months time, by how much is my 45 figure going to drop ? Is it realistic to assume it could be around 2-3 points or more ?
Thanks very much in advance

Well we can't guess. You have lost weight and if it has been from around your waist then that will be a help. Keep up the good work.

Lol thanks Andrew, certainly has been from the waist , went from 38 inch to 36 inch, must be doing something right. Have now started on the walking , spring and summer round the corner , no excuses

Just keep up the good work, but we're all different and have different bodies and issues and ability to manage our lifestyles, so no one can predict your results for you.

To a certain extent it will also depend on your diet as well as exercise and weight loss. I stopped not just the sugary stuff but all the very high carbohydrate foods as well and went down from 62 on diagnosis to 47 three months later, and to 40 on a continuing low carb diet after another five months. I've not lost as much weight as I should, and do very little real exercise, so for me it's been my change of diet that's been the major instrument in getting (and keeping!) my levels right down.

Well done keep it up.

But remember success comes with a price by that I mean all the new clothes you need to buy.

Wife bought me new trousers for Christmas waist 36 inch, was my birthday this week and she had to buy by another pair of trousers 34 inch waist. :)

Well done!

Pre diabetics do not always develop T2, but by changing your lifestyle like this you enhance your odds tremendously!
Worth remembering though that these changes need to be long term.
No point scraping off a few pounds just so that you can eat what you like again... (we have all had these thoughts and hopes, so if they are running through your head too, it is perfectly normal!). But the sad fact is that the changes need to be there, in the background of your eating and activities for ever.

Having said that, I expect you are already reaping the benefits in terms of enhanced quality of life, improved energy levels and feeling leaner and meaner - which is it's own wonderful motivation, isn't it? :D

@johnnyboy63 Well done you for heeding your pre-diabetes warning, taking action to reducing your bs levels and weight, and for finding this forum. I wish I had done all those when I was pre-diabetic and could have given diabetes a swerve.
You are doing well with the weight loss which should also reduce your bs levels. Cutting out sugary/sweet suff will help too.
But as @Robbitty says, you also need to avoid or limit starchy carbohydrates such as bread, potatoes, pasta and rice, as they turn to sugars quickly in your body.
