If you use vitamin supplements read this!

Dear Reader,

I was angered when I read the following, sent to me in an email yesterday ‘Codex Alimentarius is a law designed to hand over the control of natural remedies to pharmaceutical giants...’

What?! Surely this is not possible?

After looking at the official Codex Alimentarius website and scratching a bit deeper, I am afraid to say we are all in for a massive unpleasant surprise. The Codex plan is to suppress all beneficial, high-potency nutrients, and to allow only those and a few other vitamins and minerals that will be high-priced, low-dosage, and synthetically-made by drug companies.

Codex regulations will become binding internationally. Any nation that has entered into trade agreements through the World Trade Organisation (WTO) and its adjunctive treaties will eventually be forced to adopt Codex standards.

All “new” types of food supplements will be banned unless tested and approved in a drug-like manner. This is certain to be both time consuming and unnecessarily expensive. And, the validity of such tests is doubtful. A favourite ploy of drug and governmental authorities is to use such small doses of a supplement that tests do not show any noticeable value.

Codex standards are not based on accepted scientific research findings. Rather, the ‘standards’ are developed in a political and economically-driven atmosphere, with seemingly obligatory EU and drug-cartel approval.

This is just the tip of the iceberg the ripple effect of Codex will be felt and seen throughout the world and will touch every aspect of our lives.

If you want to continue to have the freedom to choose what you eat, which supplements you buy (and in what strength) and where your fresh produce comes from, this is what I need you to do NOW.

Stop Codex Alimentarius

Codex Alimentarius: The end of our freedom to choose

We are told that Codex Alimentarius is a law that will officially cover all foods, whether processed, semi- processed or raw, but far more attention has been given to foods (including supplements) that are marketed directly to consumers. In addition to standards for specific foods, the Codex Alimentarius contains general standards covering matters such as food labelling, food hygiene, food additives and pesticide residues, and procedures for assessing the safety of foods derived from modern biotechnology. It also contains guidelines for the management of official (i.e., governmental) import and export inspection and certification systems for foods.

It all may sound like a good idea, however under the guise of ‘protecting’ and ‘regulating’ us there is something much more sinister: This UN-sponsored global food standards body is deceptively promoting “consumer protection”. Based on nonsense science (by wrongly treating nutrients as toxins) it is a serious threat to your health and your freedom to choose. CODEX ALIMENTARIUS serves the financial interests of massive multi-national corporations who are illegally pushing to implement CODEX ALIMENTARIUS globally.

Codex will control:

1. Vitamins, minerals and nutrients,
2. Genetically modified organisms,
3. Toxic residues,
4. Antibiotics, drugs, growth stimulants and other hormones in food animals,
5. Organic foods, and
6. Irradiation of food.

Codex Alimentarius: Act now!

Unless we take this last opportunity and act urgently we will not be able to buy vitamins or health/nutritional supplements without a doctor's prescription - they will be banned from 31st December 2009.

You may think this can't happen, you may think why haven't I heard about this before. The reason is that there are vested interests from giant multinational pharmaceutical companies, and it's not in their interest that you know about and oppose this.

Codex and our lawmakers in Europe are banking on public apathy. Despite considerable pressure already exerted, our government is still planning to implement this law - UNLESS THERE IS MASSIVE OPPOSITION IT WILL GO AHEAD.

Like many health and safety matters this was started with good intentions, in 1962 by the United Nations, to establish international free trade foods but now Codex has become a major threat to our civil liberties and freedom of choice.

Please, sign the petition to the Prime Minister ... but you need to do this before 5 September 2009.

It takes 10 seconds!

This is for our health, and well-being and the health and well-being of our children.

Click on the link below ... and once you have signed the petition forward this email on to as many people as you know and get them to put their names down too.

Stop Codex Alimentarius

Graham,
The Codex Alimentarius has been in existence since 1966 and consists of about 300 guidelines many of which serve to protect the consumer. No-one is just signing up to it, it's part and parcel of international trade and food safety.
The 'fear' mongering about the codex guidelines on food supplementatio and vitamins has come from the largely unregulated vitamin and supplement market in the US. It is largely inaccurate. There will be no change to national laws from 2010 caused by implementation of codex guidelines, although a guideline on labelling was adopted in 2005.

However the Codex Alimentarius is taking a lead from Europe which has already passed legislation on the labelling of food supplements in 2002.This partially came into law in 2005(remember the headlines that you wouldn't be able to buy vitamins anymore, it didn't happen because the rumour factory was wrong then)

The next part of the EU directive does come into force in 2010. Some food supplements containing vitamins and minerals that have not been approved as safe by the European Food Safety Authority will indeed be removed from sale .The Eu Directive has however not yet set maximum levels of vitamins and minerals that can be contained in supplements sold in the European Union, and nor has there been any date set for the adoption of legislation to implement such levels

There are people who disagree with this stage of implementation and if you are one of them this should be your target not the Codex, lobby your MEP or there is an aternative online petition aimed at this.
If you are concerned read this site, which though against some of the EU legislation seeks to untangle the misinformation (and has a link to the petition)

As for the UK petition .... welll I don't know if her claim is true but google revealed a lady claiming to be the person who drafted the petition.
This is what she says

I started the petition to #10.
I have only just found this forum and appreciate the support you have given to it.
I became concerned when, at age 65, I developed health problems which I can reasonably attribute to pharmacutical meds prescribed in the previous 20 yrs.
The NHS regards CFS as incurable - I am curing myself with nutrition therapy.
Codex Alimentarius and the European Food directive threaten my abilty to cure myself. For me, and for others like me, they are in effect passing us a death sentence.
Throughout my internet search for my cure I have been made aware of the conspiracy to cull world population. I am stockpiling food supplements.
I am glad I found this site - I am a believer

graham - this has been in the pipeline for years and bitterly fought by those who make a living out of selling supplements. Problem is there has been no control over them and in my experience with many clients over the years very abused - I have given the Health prof Council several of my cases to use as examples. TBH I would be wary of claims made by people !

There is also an issue around contamination - recent studies done via UK sport show that many have substances in the bottles that are not listed on the labels. This has included vit/minerals and slimming type products. Some so called therapists prescribe mega doses - which can be toxic. I would like to see tighter control because there is no quality control what so ever.

As a Dietitian I am impartial as I am not allowed to sell them or endorse a brand!

Phoenix,
It's up to people how they view the petition, I only came across it last night but as the petition closes today I thought it warranted a comment. Yes there are a lot of varied opinions which have claims and counter claims as with any contentious issue, whether or not people decide to sign is up to their interpretation.

Graham

Ally that was a short holiday
