coffee?

I don't think coffee has any noticeable effect on my blood sugar levels, so I have no problem drinking it. It's going to depend how you like it, though. There's a lot of milk in them thar lattes, and it's the lactose (milk sugar) in the milk that will cause you more problems than the coffee itself.

I drink my coffee with double cream because it tastes so good and has significantly less sugar than milky coffee. Shame the big coffee houses don't offer cream, in which case, I'll have it black.

All the best,

fergus

I think this may have come from a study that seemed to show that caffeine elevated blood sugars. I do not have a ref for it but it was published a few months ago.

If you look at say Starbucks for intance then some of the coffees can be up to 600 calories plus and loaded with sugar. Fergus u may have to watch cream in coffee houses as it may not be fresh and contain sugar.

If you are looking at a slig of milk then it won't contain much CHO - a whole pint is around 27g CHO
