Hello, me again. I've read today that too much coffee can affect blood sugar, can anyone confirm this? Not being able to drink stella and now coffee, ***. I must have been a bad lad in my last life lol. ☺☺

Hi Will- apparently coffee does elevate blood sugar levels quite quickly after having it, but there seems to be no real consensus on whether to avoid it or not. I have made the decision to cut it out of my life for now (argh- like a lot of things since my new diagnosis) but I do believe it is a personal decision, as I have been reading conflicting reports on it. I suggest testing after having a cup and seeing what effects it does have on you. I have tried a couple of times to have a coffee since my diagnosis 6 wks ago but no longer enjoying the taste as much (also prediagnosis, I was having trouble with it overheating me anyway, so I figure it's probably not something my body really favors and that prompted me to give it up). I will say that it is pretty amazing how quickly your body can adjust once you clear some of this stuff out of your system. I make majority of my food now and when I don't I sure do notice the sugar/fat/oil etc which is helping me stay the course. (I definitely have my days when I grieve some of those foods I know I choose to not have now because they spike my sugars right up there- **** that tawny drink addiction!). Oh and yes- I am with you on the whole "must have been bad in a previous lifetime!"

Thanks Sal. I'm going to give it it go and see what happens to my blood sugar averages. I put the post because of the conflicting argument. It's all a bit of a merry-go-round at the moment. Thanks for your thoughts.

The liver processes the bad stuff first - **** eh. So in theory it gives the liver a rest. I have one cup a day with MCT oil and cream. Its my treat first thing after my rooibos of course.
