I normally stop eating at around 7pm. I don’t feel hunter whilst on LCHF so don’t need to eat anymore. I have water or tea (yes I can sleep on tea late at night).
My blood glucose reaches 4.8-5 before I sleep. When I wake up I’m around 5.3.
However if I have KP salted peanuts or a zero coke or 7up free my blood glucose goes up to 6 when I wake up and sometimes 6.7
Also noticed having these Zero drinks give me a bad nights sleep. What could be causing it?
Is it true they have sugar but advertised as sugar free?
I’m new to all this.
Some people have been known to have reactions to artificial sweeteners that will be in these drinks. The bad sleep could be down to caffeine perhaps?
It would seem sensible to remove them for a week and see if the reactions go away and if they do remove them from your life forever?
Could the high level of caffeine in coke zero be giving you a bad night's sleep and the bad night's sleep raise your BG?
There is a lot more caffeine in coke than tea.
I suspect it's the salted peanuts which are actually a legume (ie more of a bean). The way they are cooked adds to it too, any rise associated with them seems to last longer. If I eat them before bed (and I do love them) I know for a fact EVERY time my levels are at least 1 point higher the next morning. Try salted almonds instead (I have no rise with these).
Carbohydrate in the nuts won’t help, and caffeine may have an effect to some degree. In my experience with such matters, it’s very often a combination of factors that we would otherwise expect to be miminal in isolation. Even protein can manifest in this way with some individuals. My money is on the nuts.
You must eat a lot. Kp nuts are only around 6g carb and 100g is quite a sizeable portion.
Certainly enough to remove any question of constipation, for me anyway and I'm a peanut fan too.
I think I would maybe blame the protein more than the carbs. Almonds typically have less protein than peanuts.
I have and eat and like peanuts in my LCHF food “arsenal”. But I don’t go through the whole packet in one go. Just a good handful or maybe two at the most.Eat a lot peanuts or eat a lot in general and yeah I love nuts too

Personally I could eat 10 to 15 carbs of bread and have less of an effect. I think it's to do with carbs being the same in amount but different in composition, ie 10 carbs of one thing raises you for two hours and then drops against another 10 raising you less but for a period of 10 hours, is this the GI effect? I know carbs are carbs but their individual effects are different.
