greetings all,

just been reading an article that says "type1 diabetic's would go

into coma & die within 24-48 hours without insulin". is this correct?

put the wind right up me! :(

I think it's true to say that in the complete absence of any insulin in the system, a Type 1 would be getting very unwell after 24-48 hours. My 7 year old developed high levels of ketones after only 3 hours when we ran into an undetected pump problem. I think a coma would cetainly occur within a few days, but 48 hours? Who knows, I think different people would be effected at different rates, but it wouldn't take long. Not a happy thought :( .
