I have my partner who i've been telling everything to and my step mum, who basically raised me and tried to micromanage my life around it. My best friend who is coming with us. Seeing the nurse every two weeks might be a good thing for me! I haven't done DAFNE yet but i can carb count and i'm currently testing out a new ratioI constantly struggle with motivation , some days I don't test and will skip insulin doses. My hba1c levels reflect this. I am in a similar position to yourself and would like to have children in the near future, many people have criticised that this should be all the motivation I need but obviously they don't have to live with the condition.
Through the help of an excellent nurse at my GP surgery and recently attending DAFNE I have managed to reduce my hba1c. I am also about to start a libre trial so I'm hoping for some good results.
Do you have supportive friends and family you can vent to or check in with? I've sometimes found this helps. I also saw my nurse every two weeks at one point to keep me on track though I don't know if this would be possible for you.
please tell me that DAFYDD is the Welsh version of DAFNE?!@Shannon27 small steps to start with.....you are now on the right track
49 year type 1 here. I did the DAFYDD (DAFNE) course over 15 years ago. I didn't think I would benefit from it as I knew it all anyway!! How wrong was I. If you get the chance to do the course I would jump in both feet to do it
Correctplease tell me that DAFYDD is the Welsh version of DAFNE?!
It just sounds so.... welsh! Who'd have thunk it actually stood for something that makes more sense than "Normal Eating"? What even IS normal eating!?Correct...... Dose Adjustment For Your Daily Diet. Gwych
I think we all know how you feel. I think there is a quote somewhere along the lines of 'no other condition demands more of its patients' (than type 1).Our control is all on us and takes up a lot of 'cognitive real estate'.I've been on one trial and loved it! Last time i saw them they were talking about maybe putting me on a second "trial", the sensors are a little out of my price range at the minute as i've recently bought a housei'm not eligible for prescription as i don't test 8+ times per day. Sometimes i don't hit 4. So i need to remedy that!
I'm starting the Harcombe diet as of tomorrow (this evening but you gotta start with full days ha!), this is a low carb diet where you get an optional allowance of 50g dry weight brown rice or quinoa per day, and gradually reintroduce things like dairy, berries etc. I'm expecting a rough couple of weeks while my hypo awareness reassigns again, but looking forward to experimenting with food a bit more!
Okay you got me. Its like preganancy. You are or you aren't . I am not but I did fib!
I would definitely fib to make my life easier with the Libre haha! But they ask to look at my meter to get an idea of what my readings are like when i go for my checkupsOkay you got me. Its like preganancy. You are or you aren't . I am not but I did fib!
