Another mate of mine told me yesterday that on recipt of his latest HbA1c result, under 6%, his quack said he could now stop taking his gliclazide. He does have a personal monitor and checks it fairly often.
The cynic in me ponders if this is not some perverse economy measure; he gets his meds free.
My readings have been well under 7 and yet no one said to me OK mate orf you come! Not sure I would like to anyway. A belt n braces man me with a second belt (exercise) for good measure. BTW he is also hypertensive like me and will not take statins. Plus he is a veggie who has he claims achieved his success by laying off the colas and chox. Oh were life that simple!
