Hi All
Would really appreciate any feedback from any fellow diabetic ladies out there that have any experience in this area.
When I was diagnosed last November my partner and I were around 4/5 months into trying for our first baby. Having had lots of problems with periods not returning to normal, feeling like a crazy person, and serious thrush thanks to the diabetes I didn't know I had, I was quickly put back on the pill until I got under control. Double the diagnostic blow as I am sure you can imagine, or maybe some have also experienced.
Following countless meetings with nurses, consultants, my own GP and a psychologist and I now have my HbA1c down to 46, have my folic acid in hand and have been given the go ahead to start trying again! Exciting!
The only problem now is having stopped taking the pill around three weeks ago, and after having a normal bleed (sorry if that's TMI) I am experiencing an awful lot of Hypos! At the moment there doesn't seem to be a day that goes by without me having one, and not even at the same time of day. I have made a reduction to my lantus, and am also making adjustments to my Humalog to try to stop this madness but I can't seem to get a hold of things at the moment.
Has anyone else had this severe drop in BG when stopping contraceptive pills, am wondering if there's any one out there who has been through this and can offer any advice?
Thanks in advance.

I can't offer advice but can say I'm in the same boat - came off about 6 weeks ago and now having quite a few hypos. My only thought is that my body is adjusting to the new hormone mix - I'm going to try some fasting tests as a start point to adjust my Lantus, and then go from there. I see it as good practice for the constant BG changes that apparently come with pregnancy!

Being "hormonal" can cause hypers so coming off the pill undoubtedly can cause hypos to a greater or lesser extent.

It's just a case of reducing basals and bolusses till you find the correct level. Make sure you do lots of testing till you're satisfied with your results.
