Does anyone have experience in coming off Victoza injections?

I was given this drug for 18 mths then recently told I should never have been prescribed it because I'm type 2 insulin intolerant.. I was given this injection which help stimulate your pancreases to produce more insulin... Crazy but true... The new Doc has just told me to stop taking it which I have, been 4-5 dys now. I have been very irritable, short tempered with everyone like a monster.

Does anyone have any experience with above? I was taking max dose (1.8) every morning for approx. 18 mths.

Thank you.

Pardon ?

Your doctor just told you to STOP taking a 1.8 units of Victoza
Without weaning down the dosage to 1.2 then 0.6 units of Victoza ?

If this IS the case - I would suggest you go back and ask him/her your GP if you
would be safer reducing the dosage to gradually come off it ...

Anna .

Hi Anna,

Yes, my new Doctor told me I should have never been put on this, told me to stop immediately which I have. I did ask the question whether I should come off slowly like you suggested but he said "no".

The problem is I'm in Manila not in UK... I've been under local doctors at the 2 top hospitals here (Makati Med & St Lukes). I had been putting on weight whilst on Victoza and recently my blood sugars went out of control along with the hypertension.. I have been monitoring my two main values which are all up for the last 5 days while the new doc has prescribed completely new medication (oral).

I go back to see him today. This Doctor is a German who has been recommended to me by my boss. I don't know what to do for the best, I've thought about going back to the UK to seek help but I have nothing there anymore, it's very frustrating.
