Hi
My Gp has referred me to a community diabetic specialist nurse to discuss my diabetes and starting on insulin.

Has anyone had experience of these community nurses? She is actually coming to see me at home.

I was under the impression that insulin is only given out by a diabetic clinic in a hospital but my gp said that they can start me on it.

Would I be better off asking to be referred to a hospital?

Thanks
Clay

Hello Clay. I've been referred to the Community Diabetic clinic and I found them really good. Very supportive, lots of good advice. Unlike the GP they were able to take lots of time with me. Good luck

My surgery has a nurse who specialises in Diabetes and who was previously at the hospital diabetes clinic. She is superb. Surgeries can prescribe insulin.
