I've seen medically qualified people have no idea, and none medically qualified people have a great
understanding.
I've also seen people have diabetes for over 35 years, yet have absolutely no idea how it works, and newly diagnosed people get a handle on the condition quicker than i walk the dog.
I think it's a terrible idea, because people who know what works, only know what works for them. My Hba1c is 5.6, i have been diabetic since I was 9. I have no complications, and no signs of any.
I hate the low-carb / ketogenic diets and eat mostly what i wish, within reason.
This is because I know me, my body, and how i will react.
Saying that X group of people do this better is a bad idea, because they don't. It's such a personal disease that no-one can know enough about someone else to give advice.
