This weekend I made myself an apple cake from Jamie's Italy with apples from my garden. This should have been nothing but a pleasant experience but has caused nothing but a diabetes disaster.
Last night I had my evening meal quite late, which I know is bad, but there we are. I had spaghetti bolognaise for and the apple cake about half an hour later, with a dollop of creme fraiche and some blueberries.
About an hour after I stopped eating I noticed the Libre said it was trending down and was at about 10. I left it for a while and did some other stuff. Then, before bed it had gone up again and was at 14.5. I gave three units and went to bed, hoping for the best. Then, at about 2 or 3am it was back up to 13.6 so I gave two units. Then, when I woke up at 7 it was 12.2, so it had been high the entire night.
My basal is correct because I've been giving that amount for ages and it's normally been fine. It's just crazy I can't enjoy something as normal as a home-made apple cake. I guess I could eat earlier to try and capture any problems long before bed time.
