Confidentiality at work

I am sorry you are having such difficulty in your workplace. It is not appropriate for your manager to treat you this way, and there are laws in place to protect workers that HR should be aware of, and they should support you.

It can be difficult to raise a complaint, but do remember you have done nothing wrong. Are you a member of a trade union, or association that could advocate for you? Or perhaps a Citizen Advice Bureau?

They CAN ask you to not inject in their eyeshot as people do have needle phobias and YOU need to respect that as well…. HOWEVER if that is their request they MUST provide a clean alternative place for you to inject that is not the toilet..

As for the privacy if you are not hiding it.. ie injecting in front of them then no you can not expect too much privacy and yes people will comment as they don’t always understand .. also if it was discussed with them in a ‘casual way’ there is also no expectation of privacy

I’d the disclosure was only on the application form.. or only discussed in a formal setting then yes you are entitled to privacy

It’s also worth considering that it may be worth people around you knowing in case you have an issue one day and those around you may have an idea why..

Also some work places you may not be able to have the privacy for example I worked in a dangerous environment as such risk assessments had to be done and there was areas in our site I was banned from going other workers had to know there was a reason there was lines I wasn’t allowed to cross.
