Conflicting BG levels

I took a blood glucose reading with my GlucoRx Nexus monitor and it was 7.7. I immediately took it again and it was 6.8.

Why does this happen and which one is correct?
 
Chances are they both were.. Most meters have inaccuracies and these are permitted to be up to 15% so if your actual level was say 7.2 then both the readings you achieved were within the 15% permitted margin of error.
I wouldn't stress about it but carry on monitoring the trends which are more important.

Thanks bulkbiker for your prompt reply. It has given me food for thought. I didn't know meters could be 15% out. High fat is not something I would normally embrace. cricketboy

I had an unusually high result the other day, then went and rinsed my hands again, dried thoroughly and had a much more "normal" test. It could have been soap, water, not properly washed, or as @bulkbiker says, natural variation in the monitor. Which is apparently OK in this country!! Go figure!
I use a simple Excel graph to plot test results (the line goes up and down like a sine wave). But I also have a an average or trend line which is the one that keeps me sane. ;)

It has sure helped me control my blood sugars.. don't diss it until you've tried it.. also lost 7 stone.
