I was diagnosed T2 in January with HbA1c of 76. I've been treating it with metformin and diet.
I've recently started testing my BG at home much more (terrified by corona) and the last couple of readings have confused me a little - 6.4-6.7 first thing in the morning, then 4.9 2-4 hours after lunch.
I'm doing intermittent fasting (16-8 but more often 17-7 or 18-6) and was moderately low carb, but recently dropped my carbs a lot more. My morning test is usually about 12 hours after I last ate.
Is this normal? It seems counter-intuitive for it to be lower after eating.
I found that fasting resulted in ever rising blood glucose levels as it was released to cope with the lack of food by my ever helpful liver. Eating twice a day at twelve hour intervals seems to be the better option.

Weird...I wish my liver would just read some of Dr Fung's work because I love the intermittent fasting. My morning reading has been pretty much the same since the beginning of Feb so it doesn't seem to be rising, which I suppose is reassuring.
Hmmm...to be honest I'm not much wiser after watching that! Dr Fung seems to say it's the liver dumping out excess glucose during the night and that it's not good or bad per se, just a sign that there's still too much glucose in the liver (https://thefastingmethod.com/dawn-phenomenon-t2d-8/) and further work is needed.
