hi everyone!
as you may know i look after my mum who is type 2 with insulin and had many many problems with her and the general medical fraternity. anyay about six weeks ago mum was put on byetta and has now moved on to he 10 pen. but what is confusing me is the fact that she is still taking her insulin and the diabetic nurse actually put her lantus up last week when she moved on to the 10 pen.i thought it was supposed to go down!!
she was on around 24-30 units of nuvorapid and 36 units of lantus at night and now she is on around20 -22 units depening on her bg at the time and 24 units of lantus.
are we being naive is this correct or should,nt she be seeing better results by now? it seems that she has just added 2 more injections to her day.im trying to keep her positive by telling her this must be correct but other people on this foram seem to be doing much better. we cannot ask the diabetic nurse as she never answers her phone and never gets back to us!
anyone any ideas?
her bgs range from5.7 up to 8.6 and she doesnt alter anything ann only eats the same foods all the time. she feels like shes on a roller coaster. thanks p. xx
