Hi guys, sorry if I am repeating the post. I am T2 controlling my diabetes by diet and exercise. I measure my blood sugar min 4 times a day (obsessively, according to my husband). My GP is very keen to put me on medication and when I was diagnosed he gave me 3 month to sort my hba1c. The one at diagnose was 7.7 and 3 month later it was 6.1. I was feeling very proud of my achievements as I not only reduced my sugar, but lost over 2 stones in 3.5 month. For the past month, however, my morning sugar got really high - well, in my standards. It can range anything between 7.8-9.3. I re-test at 10am, when I have break at work, and my sugar is usually around 6. And that is in spite of having breakfast (usually 2 hard boiled eggs or porridge with almond mild). During the day it ranges between 5.4- 6.8. I asked my DN about it and she didn't have the answer, nor did my GP. The nurse told me not too worry too much because my results show that I am doing the right thing. It seems to me really strange to get sugar in the morning of 8.5 when I had sugar of 5.8 when going to bed. I thought the morning one should be the lowest reading. And I do not secretly eat at night  Any ideas? Does anyone have the same problem? Thanks.

Hi Denisa,

Check out the threads on the dawn pheonomina (sic), it could be that this is what is happening to you, basically your liver dumps glucose into your system to "kick start" you into the mornings.
