Ok so I have accepted I can no longer tolerate cereal after 2 hours my levels aren't so bad but after an hour and half are too high over 10, so going to try eggs or yoghurt, my trouble is I have two young children I have to get ready for school and myself ready for work everyday of the week, its a time thing but will give it a go.
The thing that is really bothering me is say 3 hours after eating breakfast (taken kids to school had a little walk, drove to work) my levels drop right down to 4.2-4.5 so I start feeling very strange and it takes all morning to feel normal again until after lunch? I have been having a snack (fruit) when I get to work banana/apple etc to get my levels up to 5-6 again, am I doing the right thing? why are they plummeting again?? its so bloody confusing.. doing my head in today, I just want to feel normal again.

I can't tolerate cereals either but have found that a few nuts or a piece of cheese when I feel a bit shaky inside does the trick. If you want to eat fruit then berries might be a better option. You just have to find what works for you as we are all different. I still get confused too - so much information and it doesn't apply to everyone!

What is happening is that you have fluctuating blood sugars and because of your high spikes and previous high blood glucose levels, plus your insulin resistance is getting better, when you start going down to near normal levels, your body wants a carb boost. So what happens is you are on a rollercoaster ride until your body gets used to lower and normal levels.
Don't over carb between your meals, have something that won't spike you at all.
Depending on your taste, there are many alternatives to fruit.
Hope this helps.

Those levels are above the threshold for a true hypo. (4 and under) and seem fairly normal non-diabetic base levels to me. If you have a properly functioning liver it will produce some glucose for your blood stream to bring you back to a level that suits your body. However, if you feel uncomfortable being so low, rather than fruit a cup of tea/coffee with some milk would be better than fruit. (particularly very high carb bananas).

Thank you all for your help I really appreciate your wish words, I tried egg muffins this morning my levels went from 6 waking to 5.7 2hrs after eating them so that was good no spike, although they did upset my tummy a little :-(
I will go for a cuppa or nuts rather than the banana or berries will they be ok? Also I was going to ask if I had cheese/ham in the morning might be more gentler on my tummy can I have a couple of crackers?? if so are they are types which are better?
Still trying to get my head around all this xxx i'll get there its only early days i suppose diagnosed 1st April and i have a very busy life, 2 small children and work everyday. Cx
