Hi all, have just received my gluco gel which I ordered from ebay. The thing is it says each tube has 10g of glucose! Is that enough to bring your blood sugar up as I thought you needed more than that?

I was told that 5g takes you up 1 mmol, so each gel should take you up two. FWIW, I use jelly babies, much nicer
, and 5g each.

It's one of those things that depends on your personal sensitivity, how low you are ... and how much insulin you have on board (if you take it).
I was told to take 2 x Glucotab. Each one contains 3.6g carbs. 10g carbs would gave a large effect for me.

Before I went on the pump, I was also advised to take 10 - 15g slow acting carbs to maintain the higher levels.
This is not necessary on a pump.

Depends on the severity of the hypo, if you wanted to you could purchase some GlucoJuice as each bottle has 15g of fast-acting glucose.

Hi. As an addition why not buy some Dextrose tablets? They are low cost, small and you can have as many tablets as you like. You can crunch them in the mouth to speed the absorption.

It takes at least 15g to make your blood go up from a hypo
