Hi all, my very first post. I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes 3 years ago. The cause was familial cholesterol which was undiagnosed, I was up at 14 in cholesterol stakes and fasting bloods registered12.4. I have been taking 4 meteor in and my most recent bloods was 5.5 blood sugar. I have made significant progress but have hit a wall, the doctor has added glicazide to my regime 80mg per day. I have been reading numerous posts about low carb diets, with lots of proteins and fatty foods, like cheese etc. this is an issue, I feel stuck between a rock and a hard place. I need to be careful on intake on both sugars and food high in cholesterol. I can't turn vegetarian. I am not overweight but I am now concerned about the all edged weight gains caused by glicazide. Is there anyone in a similar position? I would love any advice. Thanks for letting me share. Danny

Yeh I am the same.
T2, high cholesterol and high Triglycerides.
So was over weight, smoked and drank too much and no exercise.
Got diagnosed T2 and one week later had a heart attack which nearly killed me.
So stopped smoking and drinking down to a beer a month (can drink more but dont want to).
I walk or exercise each day and have lost about 75 pounds.
For diet I just eat sensibly.
So less quantity.
Good oat and fruit breakfast.
Salad and fish or eggs for lunch.
Low fat and low carb dinner.
Basically lots of veg and fish.
No sugary things and no crisps coke and other **** i used to consume out of habit.
If I snack i eat fruit.
I dont follow a diet plan but follow what needs to be done for each (T2 and Chol.)
If you read some of the stuff on this forum regarding diet you can go down some strange paths.
Just be sensible and take care of the fat for Chol. and anything that will raise YOUR blood sugars.
Test daily until you understand your spike foods.
Dont over think it all.
My Chol and |Tris are well under control now and my blood sugars are 4 to 5 everyday.
Stay away from fanatic stuff you can read and follow the general advice.
There are loads you can eat and take care of both.
