Constantly falling asleep on the couch and wanting to stay at home more often

I'm finding that I'm really tired all the time and if I sit on the couch, I am constantly falling asleep.

I am also finding that I prefer to stay at home rather than being out and about like I used to be.

I know tiredness can be a symptom but the moment I get comfy somewhere, I just want to sleep. Is this normal?

What do you eat in a typical day? What are your HbA1cs like?
 
What's your sleeping pattern like at night? Are you getting up to go to the loo, waking up too early because it's too light? Go to bed late and have to get up early? This can affect you during the day. Do you exercise - I know it's probably the last thing you want to do, but a walk around the block can sometimes blow the cobwebs away. I can go to sleep at the drop of a hat, but go to the gym a couple of times a week and do small bursts of activity in between. It may be worth seeing your gp and checking that there are no underlying problems as well as the diabetes such as thyroid. If you are depressed (and let's face it diabetes can be flippin' hard work sometimes) . Hope you can sort it out soon
 
i would be asleep before my bum hit the sofa, i did this for years, my family couldnt believe how fast i could fall asleep, i would fall sleep in waiting rooms etc, i once fell asleep standing up in the shower, bursting through the door and catching myself on the sink, after i started exercising losing weight and getting bgs down, everything changed i had more energy in general and could hardly sit still, maybe you do all these things, in which case....dunno

If my sugars are too high I get very tired and irritable. That's normal I think. If I eat something that makes my blood sugar spike and I'm sitting down when it hits, I fall asleep. The very worst ones for me are potatoes, pasta and, strangely enough, strawberries. The strawberries seem to literally switch off my brain. I don't know how high they make me jump because I'm asleep before I think to test, certainly within half an hour.
Maybe you need to try stripping your diet right back to basics. No carbs. Then reintroduce things one at a time and test your response?
