Ground Flax seed and chia seed keeps my slow colonic transit working.. I was prescribed movicol etc and cannot eat bread, pasta, rice or cereals such as weetabix etc as these get somehow in to a shape and size of a tennis ball stuck that I and hubby can actually feel the mass in my stomach. Flax n chia seeds have worked better for me than any movicols etc. My gastro enterologist did say that only certain laxatives should be used for certain constipation. The small microlax enemas don't work for me if I end up with a 6lb 18" blockage as I did a few weeks ago... This was purely from running out of flax seed for 3 days..(didn't realise it worked so well!!) have now got GP to prescribe (just in case) super sonic enemas that the hospital used... To avoid hospitalsation in the future!! Slow colonic transit is awful but natural ground flax seed and chia seed are fantastic. I seem to have adverse reactions to un natural chemicals as far as pain is caused by chemicals, preservatives n sweeteners. So glad flax n chia works for me. My hospitalisation was my own fault recently jyst because I really didn't realise how good the natural remedies are. I always have mine whilst eating my meal. I only eat once a day. It was a process of elimination to find iut what caused the chronic constipation... All "heavy" carbs have had to be eliminated. Although the other day I did manage to eat 1/8th of a slice of very cheapest, thinnest white fried bread...but didn't dare eat more. I think constipation can be eliminated by cutting out "heavy" carbs and drinking plenty and having seeds. I'm not sure whether sliw colionic transit can worsen but keeping the consipation at bay is imperative..
