Well today was my long awaited appointment to see consultant . It started out with him giving me the speal about what diabetes is and the damage to the body it can cause and I thought to myself then oh hear we go but I think it was just a disclaimer he had to say because after that it all went quite well except for two thing. One my doc never emailed my previous bloods or notes to him so he had nothing to compare and two my hba1c has come up a couple of points to 43☹️ i will have this down for the next time my hba1c is checked but in fairness the doc still gave me praise for having it where it was. When asked about how my exercise and diet are was he is happy with me following the LCHF way and even acknowledged this forum in a positive manor when I mentioned it and asked maybe to increase exercise slightly. So to everyone on here that posts and gives others the encouragement a big THANK YOU. He is happy to let me back to my own gp as he doesn't think I need to see him again unless things spiral . At the moment he doesn't think i need a C peptide as my numbers arnt out of control but if things change maybe. In the meantime I think I might book a private one just for my own curiosity. Onto my bloods . All fine except protein was slightly elevated , he thinks having covid may have raised it that little bit my next blood draw will tell. Now I'm wondering if someone can decipher these for me please Cholesterol. Trigs .8 , LDL 5.5 they were 5.8 so down slightly , HDL 1.5 and some ratio was 3.7 which he said was slightly high . Good bad ?? Am I right to say docs like to see LDL less than 5 . Just wondering what others think of my numbers and once again thanks to all on here .

Not a Dr really. But my LDL was 9.2 before 3 months low carb then after the 3 months low carbs came down
to 7(without statins) I am quite happy with the 7 really as have been told that as an older woman that is quite alright.
Because I refused the statins anyway because some brands can raise your blood sugars.what I can't understand is why the norm is uder 5 now.

I am glad your Endo appointment went well. You have done really well and I really like your attitude to coping with Diabetes. As regards cholesterel I think its not the total number that matters but the ratio between the results. I am trying to think of who to tag to explain it and I know @bulkbiker is an expert on the subject so who better. Best wishes.
