Hi,

So I have been using the Freestyle Libre reader to also finger prick, along with sometimes the Glucomen LX2 in order to check against each other.

I have been a little worried that the Libre reader is reading the finger pricks a little low. So I have got some control solution for the Optium test strips, but nowhere, on the box or on the leaflet that they came with, can I find what the expected reading should be. Every language is on the box and leaflet, and then some english, but it's not there.

When I use the solution on a Optium test strip, it reads about 2.6, if I use the same solution on a Glucomen Lx2 test strip, it reads about 2.3, but, I have no idea what it should or should not be.

Anyone had any experience with this?

IMG_0864.JPG @JoeT1 . I have yet to have a box of optium test strips without all relevant information including expected control solution figures. Every box always has sheet of paper.
Control solution figures always reverse side , bottom item.

@JoeT1 . I think the test/ control solution is useable on various systems hence no data supplied with solution.
Specific strips will give specific results using solution hence data is supplied with specific strips/ suppliers.
Hope that makes sense.
Control solution like blood will give different readings on different meters.

Hey, thanks for this info. Got the expected levels for the particular range for LO, Mid, High

On the solution itself, all it says for the Optium solution is LOT? With like a sand timer that is barely a third full, which points me towards it should be the LO range? Which matches up. Then, I have Glucomen solution which has N, with a sand timer that is near half full, which points me towards the Mid range, which again, matches with what I am seeing.

Both meters pass on these tests. Difference between actual blood can sometimes be as great as 1mmol, which I understand you can't have 100% accuracy and if you take away the inaccuracy of both, it's probably somewhere in the middle. I guess it's the paranoia in me coming out lol

@JoeT1 . You should have 2 bottles of test solution. One should say LO and the other HI.
They are usually colour coded as well , different colour tops that match print colour on bottles.
If I recall. Blue top was HI. White top LO.

On my Dario glucose meter control solutions (I think there are 2, normal and high) there's a sheet with the range of sugar readings you can get. As I recall it's a pretty broad range like normal could be from 4.5 to 7 or something like that.
