Hi all

I use the AccuChek Mobile meter and I was wondering how often I should be running the control solution test? I've had it a month now and just ordered some control solution from AccuCheck. Whilst I was reading the manual, I noticed it said you should run a control test every time you insert a new cassette! Given that I test around 10 times per day that would mean running a control test every 5 days...is that really necessary? Given that AccuChek only provide one control solution every 3 months, I guess that would mean I'd have to buy some - presumably you can't get the control solution on prescription?

Would be great to hear what others do.

What good is a control test? All it is doing is checking the mechanics of the meter are working, it isn't calibrating it. I used the solution that came with my meter to see what happened. Since then I haven't used any, and so far I haven't used any on my Codefree.

They do say to do a control solution test with every new pot of new strips (or cassette in your case Pinewood), but tbh I rarely do a control test, only ever do one when I doubt the accuracy of the meter, which the manufacturers say you should do when you believe you have an incorrect reading and suspect that the meter might be faulty.

As for how long the solution would last, the amount supplied should last 3 months as your just using one drop at a time.
