How does the conversion of the hba1c work? I don't understand the low numbers people give ( 8s and 7s and the such) I only know mine by high number in the 50s 60s and 70s. Can someone please explain?!? Thank you!

Sorry, just saw you're a T1 by way of your profile.

By way of info Rob, was my link corrrect or not? I don't wanna refer to it again in case I'm wrong.

Thanks Mike

Hi Mike - your link was a conversion of blood glucose between mmol/L and mg/dl which is for the tests we do on our meters for current BG levels.

HbA1c is a measure of glycated haemoglobin (as either % or mmol/mol), which is an indicator of how your levels have been over the last 3 months. The last figure on the converter I linked to shows what your average blood tests would have been over the 3 months based on your HbA1c, but is only an estimate. HbA1c isn't measured in mg/dl. Hope this makes sense.
