Coping with comments

Too late now as you have told them all, but I tend to tell people on a need to know basis. I am wheat intolerant and that's what I tell everyone else - gets me out of the multitude of cakes in the office.

@Jellyb The colleague that is using your diabetes as an excuse to bully can be easily handled with a deft response that is similar to her original comment, along the lines of "oh yes, i get so annoyed when I do that. It's rather like your *name something she does that annoys you* habit. That really gets on my nerves too". I suspect her behaviour will rapidly change.

I'm probably getting a bit off the topic here, but it sounds like harassment and bullying to me which your managers should deal with. I would check out your company policies on bullying if I were you.

It is difficult though. I know when people find out I am T2 they looked up and down with a 'I'm not surprised' look on there faces as I am very overweight. Even my family like to comment, my Dad thinks he is an expert as he's been reading about it in the Mail and says I've 'Got to help' myself, while at the same time my mother keeps buying me Florentines from Sainsburys! She asked yesterday if I wanted them and said ', Can you still not eat them?' . Or she offers to make a sandwich saying 'A little slice of bread won't hurt!' Aarrrggghhhhh!!!!!!
