- Acceptance of health treatment claims that are not adequately supported by evidence. I dislike it when people sell ineffective and even harmful alternative health products to exploit the desperation of people with chronic illness.
I recently had minor surgery and ended up fasting too long. I had eaten at about 9pm the night before, and was scheduled for morning surgery. The surgery was delayed because of other cases and I didn't go in until 2pm, so the fast had been 17 hours. I felt awful - weak, grumpy, tired. I know I was given IV glucose during the surgery, so that would have helped.
What are people's experiences with planning for surgery? Do your doctors ensure you are first on the list? And how did you feel afterwards? (My BG was on the low side for a few days afterwards - I did not re-start Metformin until I was eating good-sized meals).
