Coronavirus and high blood sugar levels

I am pretty sure I got coronavirus two weeks ago. GP agrees. No test available.

Since about a day or two before the symptoms my blood sugar levels have been between 8 and 11 every time I test.

I have been controlling my type 2 diabetes successfully through diet only for over 8 years now.

I have not had such consistently high readings before for such a long time, even through blood poisoning. Maybe because of the antibiotics working quickly.

I am not sure if I should bother my surgery, or if I this is normal with coronavirus and it takes a long time to heal?
 
Sorry to hear you’ve been ill hope you are on the mend My surgery is doing telephone appointments with a GP, and it’s been on the TV etc to still use your GP practice as you would have done before, if it was me I would give them a call and ask for a call either from GP or nurse just to put your mind at rest x
 
Hi - I am type 1 and pretty sure I had corona too at the end of Feb. Since then my sugars have been slightly higher and I am still recovering. My sugars are starting to decrease now but it's slow and gradual. Take it easy and let your body heal. All the best to you.
 
Sorry you haven’t been well, and I really hope you are on the mend now.

From what I have read, the symptoms of covid-19 vary so much that it can be symptomless, or take weeks, even months to fully recover.

If in doubt, check with your GP.

It’s fairly likely I had C-19 in early March. It’s lingered and my BG is still all over the place despite me generally feeling fine.

But I would check with your GP if you’re worried about anything - that’s what they’re there for.
 
My fasting blood sugar levels were 10.5 today. I can only afford to test once or twice a day.

I will see what happens over the weekend, and maybe ring the surgery on Monday.

I have been waiting to see a liver specialist too, but that appointment has been cancelled.
 
Given that this is a new virus, ANY information could be useful towards cure/treatment and can at least be examined if its known about; specifics that could relate to diabetic patients can help us all; so its definitely worth reporting everything IF you really do feel you were/are suffering from C-19
