Hi there,
My diabetes consultant put me forward for a tummy tuck, or apronectomy as they call it, and the local plastic surgeons wouldn't operate because they were worried about my diabetes. This was on the NHS and the area is where I have injected into my tummy for the last 40 years or more. However, I am quite brittle with my diabetes control although my Hb1c is 7.8 and I also take alot of other medication for long term endo conditions.
My diabetes consultant wasn't too pleased that the plastics surgeon didnt want to operate, but it really depends on the people involved and whether there are risks of infections occurring when the excess skin hangs after giving birth, and whether you can be properly monitored if you go ahead with surgery. I now do sit ups everyday, it has improved a little, but is still there. Perhaps you have more of a case than me so dont give up.
All the best with the birth of your babes. x
