Greetings!

After having 2 gigantic babies and a 6 stone weight loss I am in desperate need of a tummy tuck!

I am interested to know about anyone else's experiences of cosmetic surgery ie did you come up with any resistance from surgeons? Was the cost greater due to having to stay in longer? What was your hba1c pprior to surgery?

My hba1c is terrible at the moment at 90 :-( but I have had 2 c-Sections and my gall bladder removed with no problems with healing afterwards with a hba1c of around 60.

Any eexperiences gratefully received ;-)

Hiya.

I has a breast reduction earlier this year. Although this was done for medical reasons (they were damaging my spine) it still falls under the cosmetic surgery bracket, I guess. I had my op on the NHS so my experience might differ from yours.

In my experience, surgeons are very strict when it comes to any elective surgery like this. I has a thorough pre op assessment where they looked at weight, did full blood tests, listened to my heart etc. My hba1c was within the target range so I was fine. I was told that a high reading could have led to my surgery being postponed.

Anyway, hope this helps a little. Well done on the weight loss and I hope things work our for you!

Hi there,
My diabetes consultant put me forward for a tummy tuck, or apronectomy as they call it, and the local plastic surgeons wouldn't operate because they were worried about my diabetes. This was on the NHS and the area is where I have injected into my tummy for the last 40 years or more. However, I am quite brittle with my diabetes control although my Hb1c is 7.8 and I also take alot of other medication for long term endo conditions.
My diabetes consultant wasn't too pleased that the plastics surgeon didnt want to operate, but it really depends on the people involved and whether there are risks of infections occurring when the excess skin hangs after giving birth, and whether you can be properly monitored if you go ahead with surgery. I now do sit ups everyday, it has improved a little, but is still there. Perhaps you have more of a case than me so dont give up.
All the best with the birth of your babes. x

Can I but in and ask if anyone has tried anything to get rid of saggy skin other than surgery?

I really can't face an op. But I am a bit like a deflating balloon.
