I was diagnosed type 2 a couple of years ago. I have been on Metformin (3 x 500mg daily) for the past 2 years.
Because my BG levels had risen, my GP recently prescribed sitagliptin. I decided to do some research into the side effects of sitagliptin.
Whilst researching, I found some costs for different diabetic drugs, I was shocked
I am not too sure if this corresponds to a daily dose or not. Surely not.

http://www.nyrdtc.nhs.uk/docs/nde/NDE_8 ... inal_a.pdf

Rosiglitanzone 8mg £50.78
Pioglitazone 30mg £33.54
Sitagliptin 100mg £33.26
Glimepiride 2mg £5.32
Glipizide 10mg £4.94
Metformin 1500mg £2.24
Gliclazide 160mg £1.93

I think it is possibly stating that it is the daily cost in 2007. :?

It does make me wonder why, when drugs cost so much, there is any hesitation in prescribing test strips to T2 when control can be achieved by diet and exercise.

Knowledge is power to T2s who are educated by testing. 8)
