Could my diabetes be causing these symptoms

For the last year now I have been suffering low grade fevers almost constantly. Feeling tired, lethargic, headache for most of the time, and sweating. Generally feeling rotten. My type 2 diabetes was diagnosed during a hospital admission to hospital to have tests for the above symptoms. I have had every test under the sun including CT Scans x 3 of head,chest,and abdomen. Blood tests for everything ranging from HIV, blood cultures for general infection. I have had a lumbar puncture. Myeloma screen. Temporal Artery biopsy. All results are negative. My C-Reactive Protein level is raised to about 30 is all, and CSF glucose was slightly raised. My HbA1C was 64 and consequently I was placed on Gliclazide 80mg.

I have now had an appointment sent to me for a PET-CT Scan in two weeks time to have a look at possible reasons for my symptoms in my hypothalamus.
It seems so coincidental that I have been having these symptoms since August 2013 and then been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. I have asked my consultant ( a general physician) could it be the diabetes somehow causing this and he said "unlikely".
Can I ask if anyone has had a similar experience or if the have heard or know anything that can help? I would be really grateful for any advice at all.
According to the information I have read I have already absorbed 15 years worth of background radiation and if I was working in the nuclear power industry I would be banned from the power station.

That was all my symptoms.
A lot of tested, and I was diagnosed diabetic.
I got that in hand, lost a lot of weight, and all the symptoms have gone.

What is your HbA1C now, and how are you managing your diabetes?

Welcome to the forum. Have you had a blood glucose tolerance test. Have you had a fasting test?

If you aren't diabetic or prediabetic why are you on a diabetic med that lowers blood sugar levels?

Your symptoms are possibly low blood sugar levels. And the meds could be doing this!

No, I have not had that test, in fact I saw a diabetic nurse for about 1 minute when an in patient a week or so ago and it was after that they prescribed the Gliclazide. I have only seen my GP re diabetes to get a further supply of the drug.

That was all my symptoms.
A lot of tested, and I was diagnosed diabetic.
I got that in hand, lost a lot of weight, and all the symptoms have gone.

Difficult to say as only diagnosed last week when HbA1C was 64

@nosher8355 , his a1c was over 60, to he's definitely in the club.

Do you actually 'have fevers' as in raised temp measured by a thermometer, or do you just sweat?

I get all the symptoms you list (except running a fever) if my blood glucose is too high. I can avoid all the symptoms by keeping my carb intake low. Which is wonderful.

Looking at the amount of radiation the body absorbs during CT scans. The information not difficult to get online.

Temperature measured regularly for over a year now by Braun tympanic thermometer by myself, GP, and when I was in hospital

Yes, this hospital admission but I had one in January when they started these investigations.

Mine was 67 and Im banned.

@waem26 , ignore the banter. Dear ole Difficult is doing so well that he's been told he doesn't have diabetes anymore (diet and weightloss = miraculous cure, according to his doc, but he doesn't like being shut outside when all the cool kids are inside ).

So how high are your temp readings? I recently learned that 'human normal' actually allows for quite a variation...

No one will join my club. I've been trying to recruit but no one wants to play with my toys. Very lonely over here!
