I have had severe psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis far longer than the diabetes. Psoriatic arthritis is very similar to rheumetoid. People with severe forms of these are twice as likely to develop type 2 diabetes. They are also a lot more likely to develop other autoimmune diseases such as chrohns, lupus, hashimotos, and MS. That being said I also believe my metabolic issues started around puberty when hormones go nuts. My autoimmune nightmare was triggered by my first pregnancy at 20 years old so very much hormone related. Right now my CRP which is a measure of systemic inflammation is 24 and it should be less than 3. I believe chronic inflammation as well as hormones has a very big part to play in diabetes . This is all just my opinion but formed by a lot of research into why I am so messed up.
