Over the last 4 weeks I have been very diligent regarding my eating habits and have struggled to find anything that spiked my blood sugars. I have had a varied diet but even then I was getting a little bored with it so decided this evening to branch out a little.
Had a wee look at the literature supplied by my diabetic nurse and noticed that cous cous was a medium GI food, excellent I thought, I am rather partial to cous cous. Had it with some fresh prawns that I knew left my blood glucose levels stable.
I took my BG reading prior to my dinner, 5.2 and expected to see a BG level no higher than 7 2 hours later. You can imagine my disgust when my meter read 10.6, and it was sooooo nice as well.
Best avoid cous cous and look for another alternative.
