Covid Omnicron and T1

Hi all
Any T1s here have had Omnicron variant of COVID here? If so how long did your symptoms last and did you get any longer lasting symptoms after you tested negative?

Being diabetic our bodies heal much slower so if average normal person lasts for 5 days they say so would diabetic be around a week?

Thanks

I currently have covid. Odds are I have most common variant at the moment which is omicron. My symptoms are very mild. They started 4 days ago like a cold and are nearly gone. I have not retested since the first test as I expect it to be too early to be negative.
I cannot comment on long lasting symptoms but am currently optimistic.

Being diabetic does not necessarily mean our bodies take longer to heal. After nearly 20 years of Type 1, I am no more likely to become ill than friends, colleagues and family and always get better faster than most. For example, I was advised major surgery would take 2 months recovery. I was back at the gym after less than a month.

We are all different. Diabetes does not provide a blanket impact of viruses like covid.

At our pub group the majority had had a dose of covid and there was a huge variety of symptoms from zero (me) through to 'knocked for 6' and still low in energy 3-3 weeks after! I think we are all bound to be much more conscious of being ill because our blood glucose levels can be a very obvious reminder that we're fighting a virus as well as the symptoms themselves; my little type 1 group mentions long lasting fatigue and lack of energy. Again I was lucky in that not even my blood glucose reacted and I've had worse problems with other infections.

good to know
im unlucky as I seem to get infections from cold easily. in past have had chest infection which gave me a cough that lasted 4 months and needed anti-biotics. The cough made my chest hurt quite a bit so for me thats worse then normal flu like symptoms. thankfully only happened once to me and normally cold goes by in 4-5 days.
My covid symptoms started Monday proper but Sunday last week had sore throat in morning that went away so didnt think of it then Monday had headache so tested and was positive. :(
hopefully it clears up by Friday as dont want to waste all of the bank holiday weekend at home ha
