Same here with muscle loss, so i do feel for you as we do have to take care not to push our bodies. I lost 55 pounds in 3 weeks and a further 30 over the next year. I have to work to keep my weight stable, so target about 170g of protein a day mainly through chicken, low sugar protein bar, and healthy protein shakes. I still have healthy 3 meals a day. I have a set of small weights to help and also take the dog walks. This works for me, and for the last 6 months I've been about 150 pounds.

Hi Jordy hope this gets posted wow big weight loss, mine was after chemo/radiotherapy lost weight then tested for diabetes type 2. Currently weigh 100lbs since December last year. I looked at Nice for contraindications of creatinine and metformin it advised caution due to kidney function problems, so haven’t used it yet. Can I ask you what protein shakes do you use? Plus do you eat the addition of chicken plus 3 meals each day? I have trouble eating extra, maybe shakes will help

I use Creatine Monohydrate 5mg on the advice of my Dr. I do a lot of exercise so it helps with muscle mass. It also, apparently, helps with brain fog. I can attest to that, it does.

Hi are you in your 70s? How do you take it?

@Training1947 I'm a 64 yr old female. I take the powdered form, the pure creatine, nothing added. 5 mg daily in milk. My Dr prescribed it as my muscles are always sore and I felt some brain fog from the statins. I also noticed a decrease in creatine on my general chemistry lab work. I hike the trails, around 70 miles a week . I can feel the difference.

I’m a seventy one year old male and skinny , bmi of around twenty

I’ve just started taking five or six grams in powder. I did try the pills but there are a lot to swallow unless you are a horse

I’ve been take creatine powder for about a month now. I lost weight, I didn’t really have to loose, when I went low carb. I can’t say I’ve noticed any gain in my muscle mass but I do seem to manage better in the garden and out walking and I’ve put on a tiny bit of weight, which hopefully is muscle.

Thanks for your feedback, I have been taking 5mg a day, I will reduce the amount and ask for a blood test to check kidney function since I’ve been on creatine for 2 months, I am feeling the benefits with exercise

I started taking creatine a week ago. I’m 68 female and lift weights, do yoga and walk a ton. I can never seem to build muscle mass and struggle to keep weight on. I am not on any meds for diabetes.
I take 5 mg a day, the max recommended dosage. Feeling pretty darn good theses days with a ton of energy. I have yearly bloodwork so will know if I’m taking too much.
Creatine may help move blood sugar into muscles, I’ve read a few studies on this, so if you’re on meds I’d carefully watch my levels.
Good luck

I am avoiding Creatine because of the warnings about kidney damage.
My eGFR was just below 50 on my last test, which doesn't encourage me to put any extra stress on my kidneys.
75 year old male.
