I have had crohns disease since I was born and now I have been diagnosed with diabetes type 1.5 I take Metformin twice a day novarapid insulin 3 times a day and lantus once at night. I now appear to be having a perminant crohns attack which means I'm either totally constipated or running all the time to the loo. The pain is excrutiating does anybody know how or what could help me? I have tried all the normal medications.

I'd say it was the Metformin that was causing the trouble. It has that effect on people without crohns. You can get a slow release version which can be a bit kinder, but I'm not really sure why you were prescribed it with your medical history.

jesterjohn - welcome to the forum.

I wonder if you have considered probiotics, for example live yoghurt, home made kefir or fermented vegetables, google for further information in relation to Crohns Disease. I believe that home made kefir can work wonders.

Is it connected to diabetes do you think? What is your bg levels, could you have a gluten allergy? Have you discussed with your doctor?

I hope you find something that works
