Hi . I have just joined this group and I have a question. I have had Type 2 Diabetes for 10 years and it is well controlled. My Partner and I are both 66 and we are due to fly out to Barbados on 26th April this year for a 17 night cruise to a few islands in the Caribbean and then sail back to the UK via Bermuda, the Azores, 2 ports in France and then back to Southampton.

I am considering cancelling this holiday and re-booking for one later in the year around September. Has anyone got any thoughts ? Thanks in advance Steve

That is a very personal question. The Chief Medical officer said today that they expect it to peak around May. It's on iplayer. If your diabetes is well controlled and you have no underlying medical conditions, you should be ok.

I have no immune system so I am trying not to stick my nose out the door.

Steve - I won't talk about the coronavirus too much, as too much is unknown, to predict the future.

One thing I will say is if you elect to rebook later in the year, pay attention to the Caribbean hurricane season. It is June - end October.whilst like most seasons, the likelihood of such a specific event is unlikely, if you are unluckily it would be exceedingly unpleasant.

As someone whose boat went through 3 hurricanes, being damaged in two of them, it is something I respect. Mother Nature can be a cruel mistress. Additionally, the weather around that's time is very hot, and much more humid that other times of the at.

In my pinion the best time for Caribbean cruising is February through to the end of April.

Whenever you go, give the island chain a wave from me.
